Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them with butter and lining the bottoms with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture is light, fluffy, and pale in color.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour, mixing on low speed just until the batter is smooth with no dry streaks.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans, smooth the tops with a spatula, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes before running a knife around the edges and inverting them onto the rack to cool completely.
