  • oven
  • baking sheet
  • electric mixer
  • whisk
  • rubber spatula
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • wire rack

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together for 2-3 minutes, until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  • Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed just until no streaks of flour remain. Fold in the chocolate chips with a rubber spatula until they are evenly distributed.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, rotating the sheets halfway through, until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes to set, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
