Equipment

  • knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • blender

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups fresh ripe mango, peeled and roughly chopped from about 1 large mango
  • 1 cup plain whole milk yogurt chilled
  • 0.5 cup whole milk chilled
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 4 ice cubes optional

Instructions

  • Carefully peel the ripe mango, slice the flesh away from the large central pit, and then roughly chop the mango flesh into 1-inch pieces. You should aim for approximately 1 1/2 cups of chopped mango.
  • Add the prepared chopped mango, 1 cup of chilled plain whole milk yogurt, 1/2 cup of chilled whole milk, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom to the blender carafe. If you desire a thicker, colder lassi, add 4 to 6 ice cubes at this stage.
  • Secure the lid on your blender and process on high speed for 30 to 60 seconds. Continue blending until there are no visible mango chunks and the lassi has a uniform, milkshake-like consistency.
  • Pour a small amount into a spoon and sample. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add an additional 1 to 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar and blend for another 10 seconds. If the lassi is too thick, incorporate 1 to 2 tablespoons more whole milk and blend again until well combined.
  • Pour the freshly blended lassi into two chilled glasses. For the most refreshing experience, present it right after blending.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can garnish each serving with a light sprinkle of ground cardamom or a small fresh mint sprig before serving.
