Equipment

  • oven
  • baking sheet
  • measuring cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw walnut halves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a standard baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Spread the raw walnut halves in a single, even layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid piling them on top of each other so they toast evenly.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and toast the walnuts for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring or shaking the pan halfway through the cooking time to prevent burning.
  • Check for doneness after 8 minutes. The walnuts are ready when they are fragrant, slightly darker in color, and have a golden-brown interior when you break one open.
  • Immediately transfer the toasted walnuts to a cool plate or bowl to stop the cooking process and prevent them from burning from the residual heat of the pan.
