Ingredients

Donut Bars

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Maple Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8x8-inch baking pan, then line it with parchment paper leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until thoroughly combined and no lumps remain.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk the milk, maple syrup, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and fully emulsified.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently with a spatula until just combined and no dry flour is visible, being careful not to overmix the batter.
  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before glazing to ensure clean cuts.
  • Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl until smooth and pourable, adding more milk if needed to reach a thick but drizzle-able consistency.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars, allow it to set for 15 minutes, then use the parchment overhang to lift the entire block out before cutting into 12 rectangular bars.

Notes

Let bars cool completely before glazing for clean cuts.
