Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 block extra-firm tofu 14 ounces, drained and pressed
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Press the tofu for 15-20 minutes using a tofu press or by wrapping it in paper towels and placing a heavy pan on top to remove excess water, then cut the drained block into 1-inch cubes.
  • In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, black pepper, and salt until they are evenly and lightly coated on all sides.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, then add the coated tofu in a single layer and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy on all edges.
  • While the tofu cooks, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and minced garlic in a small bowl to create the sauce.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and pour the sauce mixture over the crispy tofu, stirring gently to coat each piece, and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the tofu.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle with toasted sesame oil, then garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Press tofu firmly to remove excess water for maximum crispiness. Serve over rice or noodles.
