Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup walnuts chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until they are fully combined. Set this flour mixture aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture is light, fluffy, and creamy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add the room-temperature eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition until fully incorporated. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  • Reduce the mixer speed to low and gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until no dry streaks of flour remain. Gently stir in the oats, chocolate chips, and chopped walnuts with a wooden spoon or spatula until they are evenly distributed.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look just set.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, which allows them to firm up, before carefully transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
