Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup freshly brewed coffee optional
  • 1 cup candy eggs
  • 1 cup shredded chocolate

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line two 9-inch round baking pans.
  • In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix in milk, coffee (if using), and oil.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until smooth.
  • Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Melt shredded chocolate or dip crispy noodles in chocolate to form a nest. Chill for 10 minutes.
  • Place one cake layer on plate, frost, add second layer, and frost top and sides.
  • Top with chocolate nest and fill with candy eggs.

Notes

Customize the nest with coconut or pretzels. Make cake layers a day ahead for easier decorating. Use gluten-free flour if needed.
