Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • oven
  • medium bowl
  • large mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • spatula
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • wire rack

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp table salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate candy bar pieces chopped into 1/4-inch chunks
  • 1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray, then line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and table salt until well combined; set this dry mixture aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and light brown sugar, stirring with a spatula until the mixture is smooth and fully incorporated. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until the batter is glossy.
  • Gently fold the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients with your spatula, mixing just until no white streaks remain; avoid overmixing. The batter will be thick. Fold in the chocolate chips, candy bar chunks, and toasted pecans until evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the batter to your prepared pan and use the spatula to spread it into an even layer, pushing it into the corners. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the blondies cool completely in the pan set on a wire rack, about 1 to 2 hours, before using the parchment paper to lift them out and slice into squares.

Notes

Let the blondies cool completely before slicing for clean cuts. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
