Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 0.25 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer on medium speed to cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together for about 2 minutes, until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat the egg and vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture until fully incorporated. Then, with the mixer on low speed, gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing just until no flour streaks remain. Fold in the chocolate chips with a rubber spatula.
  • Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake one sheet at a time for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underdone.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
