Equipment

  • large cutting board or serving platter
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring cups
  • small bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces soft cheese, such as brie or goat cheese at room temperature
  • 4 ounces semi-hard cheese, such as cheddar or gouda cut into cubes or slices
  • 4 ounces firm cheese, such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Manchego shaved or broken into pieces
  • 1 cup red grapes washed and dried
  • 1 cup green grapes washed and dried
  • 1 cup mixed berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries washed and dried
  • 1 large apple thinly sliced
  • 1 large pear thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces assorted crackers various shapes and textures
  • 2 ounces thinly sliced cured meat, such as prosciutto or salami
  • 1/4 cup mixed nuts, such as almonds, walnuts, and pecans
  • 2 tablespoons honey or fig jam for drizzling
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary for garnish

Instructions

  • Gather your ingredients and serving tools. Select a large cutting board, serving platter, or slate board. Ensure your cheeses have been out of the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to an hour to reach room temperature, which enhances their flavor and texture.
  • Gently wash and thoroughly dry all grapes, mixed berries, apple, and pear. Thinly slice the apple and pear just before assembly to prevent browning, or toss them lightly with a tiny bit of lemon juice if preparing ahead of time.
  • Place the three cheeses strategically on your board, ensuring good spacing between them. You can group similar types or spread them out for visual appeal. Consider placing the soft cheese whole, the semi-hard cheese in cubes or slices, and the firm cheese in irregular shards.
  • Artfully fold or roll the thinly sliced cured meats and arrange them near the cheeses. Place piles of assorted crackers in different areas around the cheeses, varying their textures and shapes to add visual interest.
  • Tuck the washed grapes and mixed berries into the empty spaces around the cheeses, meats, and crackers. Fan out the apple and pear slices, overlapping them slightly to create volume and color contrast.
  • Sprinkle the mixed nuts into smaller gaps on the board. If using, place a small bowl with the honey or fig jam on the board, or drizzle it directly over a cheese. Finish by adding a few sprigs of fresh rosemary for a pop of color and aroma.
  • Present your beautifully arranged cheese and fruit charcuterie board to your guests. Provide small cheese knives or spreaders for the soft cheeses and toothpicks for easier serving of cubed items.

Notes
