Ingredients
  

Base Mixture

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk, any kind dairy or non-dairy
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon birthday cake sprinkles nonpareils or jimmies, divided

Instructions
 

  • In a pint-sized jar or a small container with a tight-fitting lid, combine the old-fashioned rolled oats, milk, plain Greek yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, almond extract, and fine sea salt.
  • Stir all of the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon until everything is well combined and the oats are fully submerged in the liquid. The mixture should appear uniform and slightly thick.
  • Add 1/2 tablespoon of the birthday cake sprinkles to the oat mixture and stir gently once more to evenly distribute them throughout the oats.
  • Securely cover the jar or container with its lid. Transfer it to the refrigerator and allow the oats to soak and thicken for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours, or ideally overnight, for the best texture and flavor.
  • The next morning, remove the jar from the refrigerator. The oats should be thick and creamy, having absorbed most of the liquid. If the oats are too thick for your liking, add an additional splash of milk, about 1 to 2 tablespoons, and stir until your preferred consistency is achieved.
  • Give the mixture a final good stir before serving. Garnish the top with the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of birthday cake sprinkles just before enjoying your breakfast.

Notes

If the oats are too thick in the morning, add a splash of milk to reach your preferred consistency.
