Description
The hibachi shrimp is the star of any quick Japanese-style dinner. It’s fast, flavorful, and loaded with garlic-butter goodness. You don’t need a fancy flat-top grill to enjoy this savory dish—just a hot pan and the right ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your skillet or grill to about 400°F.
- In a bowl, mix sesame oil, soy sauce, mirin, and black pepper.
- Melt butter in the skillet and add garlic; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add shrimp in a single layer and stir to coat with garlic butter.
- Pour sauce over the shrimp and cook for 4–5 minutes until pink and slightly charred.
- Serve immediately with hibachi veggies, steak, or rice.
Notes
Use dry sherry or rice vinegar if you don’t have mirin. Pat shrimp dry for best sear. Add veggies or skip butter for dairy-free. Great with hibachi steak for surf-and-turf.
