Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup freshly brewed coffee (optional)
  • 1 cup candy eggs
  • 1 cup shredded chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix in milk, coffee (if using), and oil.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until smooth.
  5. Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. Melt shredded chocolate or dip crispy noodles in chocolate to form a nest. Chill for 10 minutes.
  7. Place one cake layer on plate, frost, add second layer, and frost top and sides.
  8. Top with chocolate nest and fill with candy eggs.

Notes

Customize the nest with coconut or pretzels. Make cake layers a day ahead for easier decorating. Use gluten-free flour if needed.
