- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup freshly brewed coffee (optional)
- 1 cup candy eggs
- 1 cup shredded chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix in milk, coffee (if using), and oil.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until smooth.
- Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
- Melt shredded chocolate or dip crispy noodles in chocolate to form a nest. Chill for 10 minutes.
- Place one cake layer on plate, frost, add second layer, and frost top and sides.
- Top with chocolate nest and fill with candy eggs.
Notes
Customize the nest with coconut or pretzels. Make cake layers a day ahead for easier decorating. Use gluten-free flour if needed.
